Laser Seam Tracking
Find the weld seam in real time with a 2D laser profile sensor, measure the deviation with high precision and send the correction straight to your robot or PLC.
Teach the reference once; read how far the seam has shifted on every part as ΔX / ΔY.

For fast commissioning of seam tracking and confident use in production.
Reference matching
Select a region of the profile and teach it. On every following measurement the ΔX / ΔY shift of that region is calculated, even if the part is positioned differently.
High precision
Calibration converts raw values to millimetres. The shift value is passed to the PLC and robot with 0.1 mm resolution.
9999 programs
A separate reference program for each part type. Programs are selected by number from the PLC or robot; the last program can be loaded at start-up.
Deviation or offset
The value can be delivered as the error itself (deviation) or as the correction to be applied to the robot (offset).
Single shot and continuous
Single shot on trigger or continuous streaming measurement. Acceptance threshold and search window are adjustable.
Simulation mode
Try the interface and the PLC/robot connection with a synthetic profile and no sensor; prepare commissioning in advance.
Consistent and safe data
Status word and counter handshakes ensure the PLC/robot only uses valid, fresh measurements.
Runs in the background
Measurement and communication continue even when the window is closed. Settings are kept in files; copy the folder to move to another PC.
How It Works
Four steps from measurement to robot correction.
Teach the reference
Select the region containing the seam shape on the live profile and save it as a program.
Measure
On each part the current profile is matched to the reference and the ΔX / ΔY shift is found.
Transmit
The result is written to the PLC or robot using the protocol you choose.
Correct
The robot shifts its base with the received value and corrects its path to the seam.
Robot and PLC Integration
Only one protocol is active at a time; it is selected from the Communication menu.
Modbus TCP
Runs as a server (slave); the PLC reads values from registers.
Siemens S7
Writes directly to a PLC data block; absolute or symbolic addressing.
OPC UA
Writes to nodes as a client; signed and encrypted connection option.
EtherNet/IP
Works as an Adapter or a Scanner.
Beckhoff ADS
Writes to TwinCAT variables over ADS.
ABB
Writes to RAPID variables through the robot controller.
KUKA
Connects directly to the robot controller.
Supported Robot Brands
Seam tracking works with the following robot brands.
KUKA
ABB
FANUC
